A To Z Challenge: Zoology And Zebras

Zoology, a branch of biology, is the study of animals. It is a wide-reaching field and includes--but is not limited to--biochemistry, biological systematics, ecology, embryology, ethology, evolution, genetics, molecular biology, morphology, and physiology.

Looking up a recent development involving animals and zoology was a strange experience. Almost all the articles I found were depressing pieces about animal abuse or some other horrible cruelty (and I found out I'm apparently not human, since I don't have any special attachment to cute pictures), so I hope you won't mind if I repeat what I did last year and this year for Lepidopterology: Post images. Because it's the last day of the A to Z Challenge (so okay, partly because I'm worn out), it doesn't wear at one's faith in humanity, and who doesn't like good pictures? (Even if they're not really "cute".)

I sort of lied. Kittens and puppies don't affect me, but I would
vote for Frogmouths as one of the cutest animals in the world. Seriously.

What is your favorite animal? Or do you just like a certain category of animal, like birds or reptiles or insects?

Every time I see owls, I think about seeing owls early in the morning at my house growing up. They would swoop down and walk around in the drive way. There were tons of wild animals. Great pictures.

LOL. My father in law got his degree in Zoology. Then he went on and founded a footings company. (Construction.) Strange world we live in, eh?

Congratulations on completing the Challenge.

Congrats on finishing another A to Z challenge! You've earned a well deserved rest. Sorry about your not being human, though. :P

Such awesome sights, frogmouthes aren't bad looking creatures either, but the cat will go with the cat.

I saw an owl last month and was surprised at how big it is. There are screech owls up at the observatory, but they're not so big.

I love all animals, especially my own (cats and a dog). I wish we treated the animals in our care better and respected those in the wild instead of continually acting as though our needs came before theirs. There's plenty of us, imo, but a lot of them are dwindling.

Love that first pic of the duck (I assume). What kind?

I'm glad you left off with these beautiful images. Don't want to know anymore about horrible animal abuse than I have to. I can't standing getting those letters in the mail, in fact I just throw them right in the bin 'cause they make me feel too depressed!

My favorite jigsaw puzzle is one of a herd of zebras. Very challenging. I love pictures of animals in the wild more than domesticated.

I don't mind. I am worn out too. Besides, you are right. These are pretty good pictures. God bless, Maria at Delight Directed Living

Favourite animal: a Bear. "But that's not difficult to understand," said the Bear.

Great catching up with you again this year. Hope to see you next year. And in-between, too.

Blessings and Bear hugs!

I have a fondness for Vultures. Had the pleasure of a close working relationship with a Turkey vulture for 8 years. Beautiful birds, smart, with personality. Though they ARE a tad stinky.

Great job on the A-Z. Take a nap!

Hi GE .. zoology is a great topic - and all the research done over the years has been invaluable to the world as a whole - a great category of science.

Glorious photos of nature and some of its inhabitants .. lovely! Cheers Hilary

Loved your photos. My favorite animals (besides my black Lab Jezebel) are otters and platypi.

Congrats on finishing the challenge!

Congrats on finishing the challenge. I'm actually not a big animal fan. I like watching birds from a distance and like the pretty songs some of them have though.

Hard to say what my favorite animal or animal kind is. I love them when I see them. Right now I'm so looking forward to seeing our visiting swamp rabbit, who comes out most days in the evening to eat our clover.

Great pics:) It's incredible to see the natural variation out there. I personally always liked the look of Cheetahs:)

Samuel: I've seen very few owls in person. Must have been cool to live so close to them.

Glad you liked the pictures!

Crystal: That is kind of funny.

Old Kitty: Thank you! :)

Alex: Thanks. And thanks for co-hosting this amazing Challenge!

L.G.: Thank you.

LOL. Guess I'll have to do with being an android.

Pat: What else? :)

Mary: Interesting that there are owls at the observatory.

Mshatch: A mandarin duck.

Trisha: I'll sign petitions occasionally, but yeah, it's unpleasant to hear all the news about this horror and that horror.

Susan: I'm sure that would be tricky!

Maria: Glad you liked them. :) And I think most bloggers have been worn out by the Challenge!

Rob-bear: Same to you. :)

JeffO: I wish I was working with vultures. They're so fascinating . . . I almost went for a vulture username instead of "The Golden Eagle".

Thank you! Just did, earlier.

Adam: Awesome.

Cindy: Thanks! :)

Krista: Hippos are so unusual in their own right.

Thank you.

Hilary: There's always something interesting being discovered regarding animals.

Holy Ghost Writer: I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. :)

Connie: Platypi are cool. They're definitely not your normal mammals.

Sandy: Thank you.

Birds are so pleasant to listen to.

Charles: True. It's just great to see animals out in the wild sometimes.

Mark: Indeed--there are so many different kinds of animals!

Just as long as they don't put this Bar in a Zoo, I'll fine.
