I published it two days ago, on June 5. After having added a few things I think it's finally ready to be officially announced.
My new website is:
I'd tell you what the site is about, but I'll let the homepage explain. You don't have to visit, of course (I'll still love you, dear blog reader) but I will shower you with virtual chocolate if you do. Or if you're one of those strange people--like me--who doesn't enjoy chocolate, then I offer virtual whatever-it-is you crave.
And here, I'll give you a screenshot to pique your interest if the URL isn't intriguing enough:

So . . . what do you think?

Wow! The website is awesome, Golden! :)
A very impressive website. Just one question - where do I find the osprey?
I think any website that champions these amazing birds is to be applauded and you have created a truly eye-catching one - very comprehensive and indexed just amazingly!
I would say though - what if I don't know the specific name of the eagle I want to read about - I just know it looks this certain way. Would it be possible to have a search box within this site to help me track down this eagle whose name escapes me but I do know what it looks like (e.g.!)?
Oh maybe have a pictorial section that links to their page somewhere?
But I love how you divide the birds into which countries they are from etc!
It's lovely! Take care
x
Wow! That is pretty cool. Now, I need to have some eagles in a story, so I can use all your cool info!
Wow, very nice. I used to work at a state park that had the state's only breeding pair of bald eagles at the time. It was quite fascinating to learn about their breeding and nesting behavior. Well done!
That's awesome, congrats! The only real critique I can give is maybe a tad bit more decorative banner at the top. It's great though, very informative and easy to navigate!
Cherie: Thank you! :)
Bob: The website only focuses on eagles, I'm afraid. Ospreys belong to family Pandionidae; eagles are Accipitidrae. I'm sorry I don't have a page for you to read. :(
Old Kitty: Thank you so much.
I'm planning to add a search box in the future! I'm just waiting for Google to finish indexing my site--so far it's only recognized the top tier pages and not the species pages, so adding their Custom Search wouldn't give you any more results.
Andrew: Thanks! :)
L.G.: Thank you.
I had a great time learning about all the different eagles as I built the site; they're fascinating birds.
Matt: Thank you!
Yeah, I thought about adding a logo or something along the header, but decided that could wait while I got the rest of the content onto the internet. I'll be sure to mention it on my blog if I add a banner, though. :)
Fabulous - only looked at home page so far but love the look of it and the egg hatching the icons :-) Great project, too !!
Will check it out further but just wanted to say Congratulations and best of luck with the site!!
I love it- but noticed on the 'about' page- some of the words overlap each other. Otherwise you did a great job.
Awesome! It's so sleek and shiny. Great work!
Golden, I just browsed - that is absolutely amazing! The time it must've taken you to gather all of that information and organize it just blows my mind.
That is very impressive! Quite a feat. :)
AMAZING. Really it's a great website, good job Eagle!! I'm going to go back and bookmark it. (:
Wow, that's just awesome! I can't believe you did all that! It's really nice looking. :D
Wow! That's an amazing amount of work. Great job!
Holy crap Batman, that is quite the load of info you have there and great site. It was easy to use and find my way around and had tons of info all in one spot, just what a site should have.
Wow. You are amazing!! I love the website :) and now anyone who needs eagle info has the perfect (and pretty) place to look! great job :)
I'm impressed. The research might have been fun, but administratively, that took a lot of work. You should be proud.
What about your blog? Will it be integrated into the new page or stand separately?
I think it looks great! I always wondered about your username and now the blanks are filled! Great job..I know a lot of people will be happy to have all this info in one place.
Angela
Beautiful website Golden! I had no idea there are SO many different species of eagles.
Congrats on such a fine job. You are meticulous to the nth degree.
The website is amazing! I had no idea there were that many different types of eagles.
The site looks great. I haven't had the chance to read through more than a couple of species, but your info looks pretty solid and well-sourced. Congratulations!
Very cool! I love eagles. We have bald eagles flying over our house all the time. Congrats on your new site!!
Great job on your website! It is very eye catching and easy to navigate, and has tons of information. Your hard work paid off. :)
Excellent, Eagle! I'm right at home here. *Robyn stands among the chocolate that rains down upon her* Fantastic job! :-)
I love it, Eagle! It's so informative. :)
something tells me you like eagles, ge ;) lol
excellent webpage, btw :)
This is so cool, can't really look now but will on return. have tweeted about it. Well done you, it is fantastic!
That's an awesome resource. It's great to see you creating a site that you're obviously so passionate about.
Congratulations on the new blog! It looks terrific.
Wow, that's amazing! I just love it. I'll bet my son loves it too.
Very cool. Be very proud! I'm married to an eagle fan and we live in the midst of many bald eagles. He has quite a photo gallery. Your site is a fabulous resource.
Beautifully done. Checked out all the pages. It is easy to navigate; love the "egg" that opens to share. I'm glad you kept it clean as you did: it would have been so easy to clutter the pages.
Possible Suggestion for the future: a Photo Gallery/slide show (w/sound?) of favorite shots of various eagles. Doesn't have to be on the home page, but...and yes, this takes away a bit from my saying the pages were "clean"
Wow! Awesome website, and perfect timing for me. I'm writing a little bit (just a short part of the story) in my novel about hawks, and I've been searching out info . . .so thank you!
Plus, I have a couple of awards for you at my blog today!
I LOVE it!!
That is so cool! I guess I guess I get distracted by little gadgets, but I was fascinated with the little egg that opened to provide other social network links.
*blushes*
I am overwhelmed by the amount of work you must of put into your website. I only explored a little but I'll be checking it out more.
And I'm not a chocolate nut either.
Wow! Congrats Golden. Its an impressive site.
I think it's very cool. I'll show this to Lana, who is a big fan of eagles!
Awesome! I'm not much of a bird watcher, but I know a few photographers who would make very good use of this :)
What a great site. Lots of work there, too.
Malcolm
The writing pad: Thank you! :)
Summer: Thanks for letting me know about that!
Emily: Thank you.
Alex: Thanks!
Sometimes I wondered if I would ever finish the site. There was definitely a lot of information to sort through. :P
Mikazuki: Thank you. ;)
Elise: Hooray!
Sofia: I'm glad you think so. :)
Charity: Thank you!
Pat: Awesome. I was worried about usability; the navigation seemed clear enough to me, but of course, I lived with it for a year. LOL.
Trisha: Thank you so much!
D.G.: The research was definitely fun to do, though it took a long while.
No, I'm planning to keep it separate. I'll add a link to the site on my blog, but I won't integrate into the Eagle Directory.
Angela: I love eagles, golden eagles especially. :)
Thank you! I'm hoping it will draw in people interested in the raptors . . .
Michael: I didn't know there were, either, until I really started hunting down the genera and species. Not to mention subspecies.
Thank you!
Patricia: Thanks. :)
JeffO: Thanks! And I appreciate your clicking through to some of the pages.
Nancy: There are bald eagles are here, too, though not that many. I wish there were. :)
Thanks.
Michael: Thank you so much!
Robyn: LOL. I was wondering if anyone would take me up on that offer. ;)
Thank you!
Carrie: That was the goal. :) I'm glad you like it!
Laughingwolf: Really? I can't imagine what . . .
Thank you. :)
Paul: Thanks! And I appreciate your spreading the word!
Deborah: I thought it was the easiest--well, at least most visible--way of doing something eagle-related, as they're my favorite birds.
It's a gorgeous site! Easy to read and easy to navigate. Two things I greatly appreciate. :)
Beth: Thank you!
Clarissa: I'm thrilled to hear that. :D
Angelina: Thanks!
It must be interesting to live around so many raptors. There are a few bald eagles in this area, but I rarely see them.
Stuart: Thank you. :)
That's the second suggestion for a page with pictures of the eagles. I'll have to think about designing one--I have to say I like the idea myself. Thanks for the feedback!
Tyrean: You're very welcome! I hope you find information you're looking for on the Eagle Directory.
Heading over to pick them up!
Ciara: Awesome! :)
Donna: LOL. I played around with that for a while after I put it onto my homepage as well. It's fun. (And I thought the egg fit into the overall theme of the site well enough--since birds lay eggs and all that. Well, maybe not SN ones.)
Susan: Thanks for exploring the site! :)
Good to know I'm not alone on that one.
Rachna: Thank you!
Charles: Thanks. And I hope Lana likes it. :)
Jamie: Really? Hope you'll spread the word about the site, then. :)
Malcolm: Thank you so much!
Christine: Thank you--I'm glad you could navigate easily and read the content, as I was worried that part of the design would come out wrong.
I think the list of birds could use a bit of color, but it's not a bad new look
Wow. I bow to your encyclopaedic knowledge. Bookmarking it to check it out when I have time to dedicate. Excellent!
Cool new website. Made me miss our old apartment where we saw Bald Eagles soaring EVERY MORNING on the headwinds.
I might have liked a little tidbit of info on the homepage...
Golden Eagle, that's an amazing website. My son loves big birds, so he'll get a kick out of it. Congrats!

Two words:
Freaking Awesome.
Great site! My son is going to go nuts with it!
That splitting egg for your social media icons is the COOLEST thing ever. Your site is very clean and easy to navigate. What a terrific job on it!
It's amazing! It looks like you put a lot of hard work into it! Great job! :)
Your new site on Eagles is pretty awesome... I love such sights for researching, and you have everything here. Will you be adding to it?
Congratulations Golden Eagle. When I have a chance I will check it out!
What happens to this blog? Will you merge the two?
Wow, I love it! The design looks so clean and fresh and the layout is really easy to navigate. It looks like a really handy site that I could learn a lot about these beautiful birds from.
Adam: Thanks! I'll keep your suggestion in mind--it is rather black.
Joshua: I don't have all of it memorized; it's more the website that's the encyclopedia, not me. :P
Thank you!
Robert: Thanks. :)
That must have been awesome to see.
I appreciate the feedback.
Maurice: Thank you! And it's great to hear people are referring the site to others they know. :)
Lydia: Thank you so much.
Brinda: Found it via www.sharethis.com
Free to use, and easy to install.
Thanks! :)
Shelley: Thank you.
Tfwalsh: I'm planning to add a search engine at some point and will try to update the content. Not sure how regularly, but at least once a year (if I get the time to go through all the pages).
Michelle: Awesome!
Nope, The Eagle's Aerial Perspective will remain as it is. Except for a link in the tabs at the top of the blog.
Anstice: Thanks!
That was my goal--to offer information about eagles. :)
what a comprehensive site! So much info here! Great great job! I really love the background photos on all the pages too. Love the feel of the whole thing. And love how you've organized all this massive information. Woo!
But seriously - chocolate? wow.
nice looking site looks really clean
congrats to you!! your hard work pays off!!
Oh, how wonderful! Ever since I've been watching those eagle cams, I've been so interested - I've learned more in the past two months than I ever knew.
They just tagged the California eaglets a couple of weeks ago. I've been wondering, how do they tag them? Do they distract the mother? Tranquilize them all?
Congratulations on a gorgeous site!
Nicely done! A lot more impressive than anything I've done.
I just use Wordpress.
Hi Golden Eagle .. as the first eagle is the African Fish Eagle - I'm happy .. I love the sound of that bird .. and just it's majesty etc ..
Congratulations on the site though .. cheers Hilary
Terry: Thank you so much! :)
LOL. Yup, I don't really like chocolate.
Some Guy: Thank you.
Annmarie: Thanks! :)
Deniz: As I understand it, they visit the nest site while the mother's off hunting or something like that. Most eagles don't go near humans, even if they're close to a nest (with a few exceptions, such as the Harpy Eagle).
Thank you.
DWei: Thanks. :)
Hilary: I agree, the African Fish Eagle has a striking call.
Thanks!
Beautiful and calm to look at and easy to navigate.
Congrats on a job well done!
Oh my goodness. It's AMAZING! Fabulous work!
(The egg cracking open for the social network buttons is BRILLIANT! Such a great touch!)
Love it. I think it's beautiful in its simplicity.
Awesome website. I enjoyed looking through the species and sources pages.
very interesting :)!! awesome!
Oh wow it's very impressive.
Very contemporary!
A few more eagle pics and a synopsis of what each link shows wouldn't go amiss, as most of us are visual people, so lists of links can seem off-putting.
I can see you've put a huge amount of work into it already.
I've just spent a happy hour looking at eagles I did not even know existed. This is a very impressive site. How long did it take you? I am well impressed by it.
How exciting, I'm on my way there now.
It looks gorgeous - I'm impressed! I imagine that took a lot of work.
Wow, how professional. I'll be sure to visit again when I have more time to take it all in.
Very cool! And it is beautiful. You are made of awesomesauce, my friend. Well done!
I'm off to check it out.
That little egg thingie with the social media buttons is so cool! I love it! And it is a beautiful and "uncluttered" site :-) Well done.
Nas: Thank you! I'm glad you liked my website's design. :)
Peggy: Thanks!
I found it via www.sharethis.com. They have all kinds of different buttons you can add for free.
Jay: Thanks. :)
Medeia: I'm glad you liked exploring the site!
Flying high: Thank you.
Madeleine: I'll have to think about how to integrate images into the layout. Several commenters have mentioned having more graphics would be good.
Paul: Wonderful! I'm thrilled to hear you found it worth spending so much time on. :)
A year, almost exactly. I started it in mid- to late-June of 2011.
Petty Witter: Awesome! I'm glad you visited and liked it.
Talli: Thank you!
Precy: Aw, thanks so much. :)
Michael: Hope you like it . . .
Rachel: The social media egg seems to be quite popular--hooray! I was afraid it wouldn't work out.
Thank you.
OMG awesome website!! That's so cool that it's all focused on Eagles! I checked it out, and I love it :)
Thanks for sharing!
I cannot wait to see it!
Lovely website. Reminds me I need to upgrade mine!
Jess: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. :)
You're very welcome.
Alleged Author: Hope you'll follow the link and check it out. :)
Damyanti: Thanks!
This is amazing! I'm so impressed that you decided to make this and then DID it! I like that it's simple and straightforward, easy to navigate. Love it! Congrats and good job!
Krispy: Thank you! :D
Hey! I saw your site and it looks amazing! I can't wait for the next update. Maybe you can put some borders on your homepage.
Nelson: Thank you! :)
And thanks for the suggestion. Though, what do you mean by borders precisely? Do you mean organizing things into columns, like most blogs are?
I’m very impressed! It’s choc-full of information, and the design and layout is definitely both user-friendly and fun. I think your website should be submitted to online directories, and could benefit from being marketed online via search engine optimization techniques. That way, more people could learn more about protecting these majestic birds using the info you’ve provided.
