How to Make a Button

Icewolf asked me how to make a button, so here's a little tutorial:

To make a button, first get the image you want. Then go to Picnik and click the "Get Started Now" button. Then edit and add text until you get it the way you want your button to look.

Upload the image onto Imgur and get the URL.

Take this code (this is for my button but it will work):

<center><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Put up this button!<br /><textarea cols="20" rows="5"><a href="http://thegoldeneaglesblog.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></textarea></center>

And replace the highlighted green areas:

<center><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Put up this button!<br /><textarea cols="20" rows="5"><a href="http://thegoldeneaglesblog.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></textarea></center>

With whatever link you want, keeping it in the quotation marks.
Then in the highlighted red areas:

<center><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Put up this button!<br /><textarea cols="20" rows="5"><a href="http://thegoldeneaglesblog.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></textarea></center>

put in the URL of the Imgur link. Keep it within the quotation marks.

If you want to change what it says between the button and the code box change the highlighted blue area:

<center><a href="" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Put up this button!<br /><textarea cols="20" rows="5"><a href="http://thegoldeneaglesblog.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgur.com/1iTbZ.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /></textarea></center>

Then, you're done!

neat tutorial... thx

that oil spill counter is pretty cool, but is it accurate?

Katie: no problem! :)

Laughingwolf: the oil spill counter updates itself based on government and sometimes BP estimates on how many gallons of oil are spilling into the gulf. There's ticker without the video at newshour.pbs.org and you can change the flow rate on that one.
