Teaser Tuesday (23)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at the lovely blog Should Be Reading.

Here are the rules for joining in:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser this week is from The Maze Runner which I've heard many good things about, so I'm eager to finish it; but it's also due tomorrow at the library and I've hardly read any of its 375 pages, so that's even more impetus to get it done. Ack.

"What, don't like seein' my face first thing on the wake-up?"
"Not especially."

If you have a teaser today, feel free to share it in the comments!

I've been wanting to read The Maze Runner! Great exerpt. I'm reading Rampant by Diana Peterfreund. Here's my expert:

"I was far less interested in protecting my virtue than I was in not giving it up to a boy who couldn't pass intermediate French."

Oh sounds interesting. I'm currently reading "In Cold Blood" by Truman capote. lets see- a couple sentences from my non-fiction read

"Well, mister, seems like we've got something to discuss.' Because, inside the car, what they'd found was a .12 gauge shotgun. And a hunting knife."

Madeleine said...

LOl! That is compelling. I hope your are enjoying the rest of the book :O)

What a fun idea! I've been meaning to read The Maze Runner, and those quotes make me want to even more!

I'm reading Across the Universe by Beth Revis.

"I stare at her, and even though her chest is moving up and down in steady breaths, she looks more dead now than she did in the ice.

I wonder if she dreams."

The Words Crafter said...

Oooo, good tease. I've heard good things about this, too. I hope you do a review!

I haven't read this book either. Don't you hate it when a book is due, and you haven't finished it yet? Did you try renewing it online? Anyway, great teaser.

Great teaser!

Here's mine from "Master of Darkness" by Susan Sizemore. She always makes me laugh.

"Back in the day, San Diego hadn't exactly been a thriving hotbed of vampirism. But ever since he'd blown into town three nights ago, the locals had been all over him."

Great teaser, catches your attention.

I've just started reading Gideon's Way by Howard Gordon. Here's a couple of sentences from page 13: "It was an ambush, pure and simple. Kate Murphy had been told that she would be testifying at the Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Policy as a technical expert on offshore drilling."

A great teaser.

I'm really suffering my latest book - a biography - so please excuse me for not adding my own teaser.

I plan to read The Maze Runner this year. Thanks for lighting this.

Good teaser! I'd leave you a teaser from "The It Girl Series" which I'm reading now, but you could probably find something similar on your own by reading through a J Crew catalogue. Way, way too many descriptions of clothes.

I hope your library lets you renew books. Nice teaser.

Happy Reading!

Cute idea. This one is on my to read list. I'm looking forward to it...once I cut my current reading pile to something that doesn't represent a Hoarder's collection. LOL

Old Kitty: You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the teaser. :)

Brian: No page numbers? How do you hold your place in something you're reading, then?

Review shall be up!

Lady Q: You're welcome! It was fun visiting! :)

Jen: Me, too.

I pounced on it when I saw it on the shelf at the library!

Laughingwolf: Thanks!

From the title, I would guess that it has to do with crime. Hope you're enjoying it!

Julie: It renewed the next day, so I have it for another 3 weeks. :D

Jai: Thanks, Jai! :)

"thriving hotbed of vampirism"--LOL. I love your teaser!

I hope you enjoy your book!

Mason: Thanks! It's what teasers are for, after all!

Offshore drilling? That has relevance thanks to the BP oil spill . . . Hope you like the book!

Tracy: Glad you liked it!

Aw, too bad--I hate it when books are hard to get through.

Darlyn: You're welcome! I hope you enjoy The Maze Runner!

Angela: Thank you!

LOL. Descriptions of clothes? I can't stand that kind of thing; I usually skim and see if there's anything of real substance (not that stuff like that is bad, but style/fashion really doesn't interest me).

Malcolm: They did--whew.

I'm glad you liked it!

Misha: Thank you! :)

Angela: Ah, yes, the case of the ever-expanding Pile O' Books To Read. :D

Sash: Really? Awesome!

What did you think of it?
