Teaser Tuesday (14)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.

Here are the rules for participating:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week, my teaser is from 2061: Odyssey Three by Arthur C. Clarke, one of the three sequels to 2001: A Space Odyssey. (Yes, I'm reading Clarke again.) I recently finished 2010: Odyssey Two, which is even more interesting seeing as we're in 2010 right now. Unfortunately, we're not going to Jupiter . . .

"It fooled a lot of people in the old West--iron pyrites. Common on the outer satellites, of course, but don't as me what it's doing here . . . "
"Visual contact lost. You're two hundred meters in."

-p.92

If you have a teaser, feel free to share it in the comments!

What a teaser. You sure have a variety of these. I'll just stick to teasing the dogs with a piece of cheese :D

An interesting tidbit for sure.

I would, but that would require moving from my lovely comfy sofa! :)

Hi! Thanks for your support over at my blog! I know I've been a bit AWOL. So sorry! I'm finding it harder and harder to keep up with everyone :o)

Ok, here's my tidbit:
"Several unidentifiable floating objects bobbed on the
surface and the water had a funky yellow tint."

Talli Roland, 'The Hating Game' :o) hehehe

great teaser. I haven't read any Arthur C Clarke...I really should.

I kind of REALLY want to read those books.

This is a terrific teaser! I think it's awesome you are reading these books even if you've read them before. Sometimes tried and true is much better than the unknown!

Hmmm. Here's mine:

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore - 'He starts at my fingertip again, then moves the flame very slowly up the back of my hand. There is a slight tickle where the flame touches the skin, nothing more.' Page 43.

The book is awesome!

Have a nice Wednesday, Golden Eagle! :)

This is fun! Here's my teaser, from John Grisham's THE CONFESSION:

The prosecution's theory of guilt has been based in part on the desperate hope that one day, someone, somewhere, would find Nicole's body. It couldn't stay submerged forever, could it?

I'm cheating a bit because I'm in between reads. Here's a teaser from a recent read. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater: "Killed? Killed?" Her voice was shrill to my ears, claws on glass. "What about me? Look at me. My life is over."

LOVED THIS BLOG POST! thanks, christy

I love doing these but I'm not near a book. How ever do you read so many books so fast. I'm such a slow reader.

Jules: LOL.

Ann: Think you'll ever try one of the books in the series?

Talli: No worries! I wouldn't want to move, either.

Jessica: Nah, don't worry about it!

How often do you read a teaser just below the author's comment? :D

Congrats on your debut, by the way!

Old Kitty: You're welcome!

Julie: :)

Lynda: You should! He's a really good writer.

Marieke: I kind of REALLY hope you do, then! ;)

Amy: Same author, not the same book; but rereads can be definitely be fun!

Len: I Am Number Four sounds intriguing! Great teaser!

Kelsey: Glad you enjoyed it!

Jennifer: Oooh, now that's interesting!

Christy: I "cheat" sometimes, too.

Great teaser! I'm interested in reading Shiver; I'm not usually into the genre, but I want to know what everyone's buzzing about.

Clarissa: I'm a really fast reader; I've always been that way.

Jai Joshi: Nice to meet you, too!

Carrie: Anytime!

Jai Joshi: I hate typos, too. They just drive me up the wall!

Blogger does that sometimes--dunno why!

Shannon: I'm glad you like TT posts!

Nope! I don't mind . . . and besides, it's actually MizB's idea. :)
