Teaser Tuesday (17)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.

The rules for participating:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week, my teaser is from Freefall, the third book in the Tunnels Series. I am JEALOUS of people in the UK who get to read Closer, because I love this series. It's one of the best I've read in a while--dark, mysterious, with plot twists everywhere. They're amazingly unpredictable, and they're very well-written, too. They leave off at cliffhangers, which makes for some pretty frustrating reading, but when you get your hands on the next book it's definitely worth it.

(This is the US cover--for once, the two versions, US/UK, are actually pretty much the same.)

He closed his eyes and pressed a hand to his forehead, as if he was experiencing a stabbing pain. But it wasn't that sort of pain.
"No. Shut up," he gasped. "Don't!"

Do you have a teaser today? If so, feel free to leave it in the comments!

What a great teaser, makes your brain turn and wonder. And a very interesting bookcover to boot.

Stop by any time for a bit of paranormal fun, our blog is brand new.

Love this! My teaser, from "Send In The Idiots," by Kamran Nazeer

When he (Andre) spoke on the telephone, one of the puppets was usually in his lap. He was a member of a chess club and he attended the meetings with Boo. He had been turned away from a speed-dating evening because he arrived with a new puppet he had just made called Sylvie.

Are we supposed to come up with teasers in the comments or have I gone overboard?

Oops, I don't have a teaser...but I do have a couple of slightly battered fuzzy mice!

Fun! I haven't heard of this series before ~ is it YA? MG? Or "just plain adult", lol?

And, I've never seen a teaser Tuesday done like this. I like it!

Once again I am still editing...it's forever! So I will leave you a teaser from my high fantasy, The Treasures of Carmelidrium, coming to kindle in Dec. 2010.

Chapter 22. Missie, our heroine has been introduced to Gil-Lael's society at the Spring Festival Dance and has played her flute in a brilliant composition that she wrote. Now she must mingle. (She's a modern American stuck in a medieval society.)

The dance ended, Erard bowed and left. Several men slipped between couples and approached. Missie knew these noblemen, as she did the women, from previous dinner parties at the chateau.
"My Lady," Duke Theon Alitram said. He wore purple velvet and had a nose that would make any plastic surgeon salivate with dollar signs and debate the number of operations necessary to reduce it.

Hope you enjoyed that.

I do like the cover!

Going to look up this series next.

Nice to see the covers from US and UK are the same, sometimes they are so incredibly different.. ever notice the UK covers are darker visually for a gloomier effect??

I keep meaning to do this, but keep getting distracted!

Do drop by my blog to be appreciated!

Oops - sorry, I had to delete my last comment due to a major typo. What I meant to say was: I love mysteries and plot twists - this sounds like my kind of book! Thanks for sharing the teasers!

Nice teaser! Sounds like an interesting series, I'll have to see if my library has the first one (especially since it has cliffhanger endings). ^_^

Black Eyed Dog: Maybe you'll check out the book? :)

Caroline: Cool!

Cinette: I love posting cryptic teasers; teasing a whole lot of fun! :D

Pk: I hope you do!

Old Kitty: Awesome! It's worth the read.

Lee: It's a great series.

Maryo: I hope you find the time! :)

It's great seeing you here, Maryo!

Rachel: I love it.

Sangu: Highly recommended. It's a little dark at times, though.

Hooray! :D

Black Disaster Fairy: I like the cover, too; and it matches the book!

Angela: Glad you like it! I loved your teaser, too; I wonder what's with the puppets!

And nope, you didn't go overboard! Teaser Tuesday is for spreading the word about books. I love long comments, anyway. :)

Brian: They must be battered, since I'm sure that you're a great hunter!

Holly: It's a freefall . . . :D

Ali: YA. I would say MG, if it wasn't for a few elements--like extreme survival, and other books in the series get a little violent.

I'm glad you like the Teaser Tuesday!

Laughingwolf: Yes, it is! :)

Nancy: LOL. I love that teaser! What a funny idea . . . :D

Aisle B: I hope you get to read it! :)

I never noticed that about covers, I suppose you're right! The UK covers are darker than the ones for the USA, a lot of the time.

Dominic: I used to forget to do Teaser Tuesday as well; then I'd see the "Tuesday" one someone's blog and then remember!

I saw your post--thank you so much for awarding me, Dominic! :) I just posted about it!

Susan: I know, I delete comments if there's a typo, too; they just drive me nuts. :P

Cool! I hope that you get to read the book, then; the books in the Tunnels Series are full of plot twists and mysteries.

Orchid: Normally cliff-hangers drive me nuts, but this series is just so well-written I keep going back to it!

Clarissa: I hope you have a great trip, Clarissa! And that you get back to some books soon--I know I start feeling depressed when there aren't enough of them around. :P

You too!
